RRR broke the record of Film 3 Idiot in Japan
Rajinikanth's Muthu, which made history 24 years ago with a business of Rs 40 crore, continues to be the highest-grossing Indian movie of all time in Japan.
The second place went to the film by director SS Rajamouli. The director's Baahubali 2 has grossed Rs 300 million at the Japanese box office.
3 Idiot, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, came in third.
According reports, SS Rajamouli’s RRR has surpassed Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots to become the third highest-grossing Indian film in Japan.
It traded for 180 million Japanese yen (JPY) in 17 days after being released on 209 screens and 31 IMAX screens in 44 cities
3 idiots traded JPY 170 million in Japan. In Japan, RRR has overtaken 3 Idiots with 180 million JPYs to become the third highest-grossing Indian movie.
After its release, RRR grossed over Rs 1,000 crore at the worldwide box office.
