Robbie Coltrane Death: Harry Potter's 'Hagrid' dies after prolonged illness

Robbie Coltrane, who played Rabius Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, has died.

Robbie was battling the disease for the past few years and was hospitalized at the time of his death.  The death of Robbie has caused a wave of mourning among Harry Potter fans around the world.

72-year-old Robbie was a resident of Larbert, Scotland and he died in a hospital there. He was born on 30 March 1950 in Glasgow, Scotland.

obbie began doing stand-up comedy at the Edinburgh Clubs, and when he went to London to act, he took his surname in honor of jazz legend John Coltrane. 

Robbie started with TV.  Worked in shows like Flash Gordon, Blackadder and Keep It in the Family.  He also acted in A Kick Up the Eighties.  Apart from this, he also acted in many popular comedy serials.
