Coolio was an American rapper, producer, and actor. The singer died in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the age of 59.

Coolio was born on August 1, 1963, in Pennsylvania and later moved to Compton, California. Coolio was educated at Compton Community College.

In 1987, Coolio released his first record, 'Whatcha Gonna Do?' In 1988 he also recorded 'What Makes You Dance' with Nu Skool

In 1991, Coolio joined WC and Mad Circle.He is a credited co-contributor on the group's debut album Ain't a Damn Thang Changed, including on the single "Dress Code"

Coolio had six children.He married Josefa Salinas in 1996, and they divorced in 2000.

Coolio's 1995 song "Gangsta's Paradise" received several awards, including Best Rap Solo performance at the Grammy Awards.

'Gangsta's Paradise also received Best Rap Video and Best Video from a Film at the MTV Video Music Awards.
