Akshay Kumar will play the lead role in the film based on the Raniganj coal mine accident

About 33 years ago, 65 people were trapped in a coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal, due to floods. 

During this disaster, Chief Engineer Sardar Yashwant Singh Gill showed his bravery and skill and managed to safely evacuate all the people trapped in the mine. 

Puja Entertainment has made a film about the coal mine rescue operation. 

Akshay Kumar will play the role of Chief Engineer Yashwant Gill in the upcoming film. According to reports, Akshay Kumar started shooting for the biopic several months ago.  

In the film, the actor will be seen conducting a rescue operation to save the lives of 65 people trapped in a coal mine. 

Actress Parineeti Chopra will play the role of Akshay Kumar's wife in the film. 

Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the untitled real-life rescue drama film will hit theaters next year. 

Today is the anniversary of the 1989 incident ( November 16).
