Terror threat: Curbs on renting out houses in parts of Guwahati
The order will be effective in areas under the jurisdiction of Chandmari, Noonmati, Geetanagar, Paltan Bazar, Pan Bazar, Latasil, Satgaon, and Pragjyotishpur police stations of the city and will remain in force for 60 days.
The order, issued by DCP (Central Police District) Rajveer, says, “Reports received that due to the situation prevailing in the area of Central Police District, Guwahati, it is apprehended that terrorists/anti-social elements may seek hideouts in the residential area of the said police district.
The order has made it mandatory for people dealing in properties to furnish details of the tenants to the OC of the police station concerned. “Any person contravening the order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant),” the order adds.
