PV Sindhu Beats China’s Wang Zhi Yi at Singapore Open Finals2022

PV Sindhu, the Indian champion to have won two Olympic medals, defeated China’s Wang Zhi Yi in a nail-biting clash to win her maiden Singapore Open badminton title.

Sindhu was up against the reigning Asian Champion who had not dropped a single game prior to the summit clash on Sunday (July 17).

Sindhu proved to be too good for the Chinese as she outclassed her from the word go. Sindhu won the first game 21-9, giving nothing away to her opponent.
However, the current Asian champion came roaring back in the second game and managed to take the title clash into the third and deciding game by downing Sindhu 21-11.
Sindhu once again found her rhythm as she showed controlled aggression on the court to take the title home and bag the gold medal.
The win gave Sindhu her third title of this year. The ace Indian shuttler had won the Korea Open and the Swiss Open earlier this year.

Looking at the way Sindhu performed in the tournament, social media was abuzz and fans came in numbers to congratulate the star badminton player.
World No 7 Sindhu beat world No 38 Kawakami 21-15, 21-7 in her final four clashes, which lasted for 31 minutes. The former world champion will face the winner of the other semifinal between Japan’s Aya Ohori and Chinese shuttler Wang Zhi Yi in Sunday’s final.
