PM Modi greets people on Eid-ul-Adha
( Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Eid-ul-Adha). May this festival inspire us to work towards furthering the spirit of collective well-being and prosperity for the good of humankind, says- PM Modi.
Eid-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice is celebrated with religious joyousness in various parts of the country today.It is an important festival for Muslims. The devoters offered Eid namaaz or prayers in Idgahs and mosques this morning.
They celebrate this festival for three days in which prayers are offered in the mosque, new clothes are worn by the Muslims, and greet each other. It is celebrated on the last day of Hajj which is a pilgrimage to holy Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Also, on this day Muslims follow a ritual ‘Qurbani’, in which they sacrifice an adult and healthy animal which can be a goat, sheep, cow, or camel. The meat of the sacrificed animal is then shared among friends, family, and the indigent.
