North East Zone Cultural Centre is one of the seven Zonal Cultural Centres under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was established in the year 1986 with its Headquarters at Dimapur, Nagaland. The main objectives of the Centre are to preserve, promote, disseminate and propagate the rich heritage of the region.
In the year 2006, as an extension of its activities, the NEZCC established its Shilpgram, the Crafts Village at Guwahati with the objective of providing a platform for men and women in the field of art and culture o congregate and demonstrate their skills in varied disciplines with an eye on the market. As a part of its annual programs and activities, NEZCC organizes a range of programs at Shilpgram, Guwahati throughout the year. The Centre organized a long series of Community Cultural Programme during the year.
Centre organized a long series of Community Cultural Programmes in the year of 2020-21,2021-22 year, during the Covid-19 pandemic at the premises of Shipgram, Guwahati with the advent of the pandemic, the Artistes who were solely dependent upon performing arts were severely affected as public gatherings were totally curtailed. For the financial year 2022-23, the center is planning to organize Community Cultural Programme – Cultural series in a Shilpgram complex, Panjanbari, Guwahati by June 2022. In this regard, the NEZCC would like to hold a Press Meeting at Shilpgram NEZCC Office, Panjabari, Guwahati. Therefore, NEZCC is kindly requesting all Media houses person/journalist crew for the Press Meet on the 10th of June, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
