Jane Fonda has disclosed that she has been given a cancer diagnosis

The 84-year-old “Grace and Frankie” actress and two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda announced Friday that she had started chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, according to the Mayo Clinic, is a lymphatic system disease in which white blood cells lead to tumors all over the body.

Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted medication therapy, immune cell engineering, bone marrow transplantation, and immunotherapy are all possible forms of treatment.

According to Fonda, this malignancy is pretty curable. “I feel incredibly fortunate,”

Aware that many people with cancer do not have access to the finest physicians and therapies, Fonda also expressed her thanks for her health insurance and “access to the greatest doctors and treatments.”

A well-known climate change activist in recent years, Fonda also stated that more needed to be done to address the underlying causes of cancer, notably pesticides.

According to the Mayo Clinic, other causes of non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s include taking immune-suppressing drugs, contracting specific viral and bacterial infections, and growing older.

The actress stated she is managing the chemotherapy “very well” and that it will run for six months.

And trust me, I won’t let any of this get in the way of my climate action, she continued.

The significance of adjusting to the new reality is something that the disease and my age—nearly 85—clearly teach.”
