Frenkie wants to stay at Barcelona despite rumours of him reuniting with ex Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. He claims to Dutch media that he would like to work with Ten Hag again but prefers to stay at Camp Nou as he feels that place as his home.
He said: “I will not go into that(Manchester United). Not even about other names or clubs. I understand that link is made. I have enjoyed working with Ten Hag at Ajax – and I can’t look into the future, of course. But I prefer to stay at Barcelona.”
But the story is not so simple. Barcelona had to say goodbye to their all time best player Lionel Messi to PSG(Paris Saint German)due to their financial struggle.
According to La Liga’s financial rule each club is allowed to spend about 70% of their revenue.
Barcelona’s debt reached an enormous height of 1.1 billion pounds last year due to which their salary cap was reduced to 83 million pounds. This could continue this season too as a result they might have to sell some of their valuable assets again. De Jong might be one of them.
United might be wanting to take up this opportunity and grab Frenkie on their side.
The player is only 25 years old and has much more left to give on the field.
MU(Manchester United)fans long drought to see a stable midfielder might come to get over with the arrival of De Jong.
