Freddy, a haunting tale of love. Spoiler-free review.
Director: Shashanka Ghosh
Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Alaya Furniturewala.
Released directly on Disney + Hotstar on Friday 2nd December.
Dr. Freddy Ginwala, a Parsi, is a successful dentist but an Introvert, extremely shy, and nervous while meeting people, especially girls, he doesn’t know how to start a conversation, low on self-confidence.
All negative character traits but a dark and scary side of him which comes out at the end of the first half and in the entire second half of Freddy.
Karthik Aaryan is simply brilliant in the character, his body posture right from the beginning till the end is absolutely amazing.

Can we find the chocolate lover boy Kartik Aaryan in it? Absolutely not. This character is completely different from any of his previous characters.
Freddy is a SPINE-CHILLING thriller where Kartik Aaryan has outperformed himself so wonderfully.
He elevates the impact of the script with his nuanced & proficient acting (His Career’s finest undoubtedly).

The story is creepy and predictable but intriguing to watch throughout. Alaya Furniturewala has done justice to the character she was given, she too looks menacing in the role.
Songs played in the background were fairly good, but the background score could have been much better, in dark thriller movies the BGM elevates the impact of every scene many folds which was sadly missing in this one.
The cinematography was fine, color grading was top-notch. Dark movies and dark colors.
The climax is fairly predictable as mentioned above but the brutality shown at the end is scary but very enjoyable.
Sounds confusing but as it’s a spoiler-free review so can’t be said more. For people who love watching dark thriller movies, Freddy is just for them.
Makers did the right thing by releasing it directly in the OTT as it’s not a movie for the masses.
Kartik Aaryan shows his true potential in this movie. The perception of a lot of his critics will surely change after watching the movie.
He is just not a one-dimensional actor, he will be an asset to the Hindi Cinema industry for years and for sure.
