“Elvis” entertainer and artist Shonka Dukureh tracked down dead in a Nashville loft

Shonka Dukureh, a Nashville performer who depicted vocalist Big Mama Thornton in the new “Elvis” film, has kicked the bucket, authorities said Thursday. Dukureh was tracked down dead in her Nashville loft, where she resided with her two small kids, the Metro Nashville Police Department said in an explanation.

Police said that not long before 9:30 a.m., the 44-year-old Dukureh was tracked down lethargic in a room by one of her youngsters. The youngster rushed to a neighbor’s loft for help, police said.

No injustice is thought, albeit a post-mortem examination will decide the specific reason for death, police said. No further subtleties were delivered.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper respected Dukureh on Twitter, composing that “Her strong voice and masterfulness will live on through her music, and we honor her memory on this miserable day.”
